Rockport — Do not look now, but the Camden Hills football team is riding a two-game winning streak.

And not only have the Windjammers scored in droves, their defense has showed up in an impressive way as well, turning in a goose egg for the second straight week.

Hosting Telstar of Bethel on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8 at Don Palmer Field, the Windjammers made the Rebels yell as they defended their home field with ease en route to a lopsided 36-0 win.

Thus, Camden Hills, competing in the high school developmental Class E for the second straight season, has outscored its opponents 66-0 through two contests.

The Windjammers, 5-3 last year and a playoff team in the new class, outgained the Rebels 186-82 on the ground, led by Connor Hedstrom (67 yards), Brady Hedstrom (rushing touchdown) and Spencer Johndro (rushing touchdown).

Johndro, the team’s quarterback, also completed a 54-yard touchdown pass to Sam Hebert.

"We are very happy with the boys and how we played as a team,” said Camden Hills coach Jeremy Marks. “Next week [against Freeport] will be a great game for us to see where we measure. We are looking forward to the challenge."

Telstar quarterback Davin Mason was injured in Saturday’s game, but was able to walk off the field under his own power.

“Our group was relieved that Telstar's #20 walked off the field under his own power with his parents,” said Marks. “The ‘Jammer football family wishes him all the best."

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Class E South , Camden Hills (2-0, 2.5000 points) is third, while Maranacook of Readfield (2-0, 9.3750 points) is first in the nine-team region. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs.
