Camden Hills band earns high marks

Photo by: Marti Stone The Camden Hills Regional High School recently competed at the Maine Music Educator's Association’s District III Jazz Festival.

Brunswick — The Camden Hills Regional High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Nancy Rowe, recently earned a I (superior) rating at the District III Jazz Festival, held Feb. 26 at Brunswick Junior High School.

The group received high praise for the quality of repertoire as well as artistic merit. Students who earned superior ratings for their solos were Aaron Nolan, trumpet; Tristan Fong, vibes; Paul Woodworth, tenor sax; Matt Ackley, trumpet; and Tyler Bildoeau, drums. In addition, senior bassist Duncan Hall and senior trumpeter Aaron Nolan earned a Judges’ Choice award.

The ensemble will continue on to compete at the state jazz festival to be Saturday, March 15, at Hampden Academy.
