CAMDEN — Four outstanding Camden Hills Regional High School seniors have reached National Merit Scholarship Finalist Status.

Jonathan McDevitt, of Camden; Wyatt Munson, of Lincolnville; Elias Porter, of Appleton; and Claire Wyman, of Appleton; are among the top 15,000 students in the country, based on their 2019 PSAT scores. They are now being considered for the 7,500 scholarships that will be awarded by the National Merit Scholarships Corp.

Senior Ruben Feldman, of Camden, McDevitt and Wyman are candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, and have the opportunity to apply for scholarship consideration.

The Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 to recognize distinguished graduating seniors in the area of academic success, leadership, school service, arts, and career and technical education.

Feldman's passions lie in music and technology, which is why he wants to study computer science and music in college. He was Visual and Performing Arts Student of the Month in September 2020. He has had the honor of being chosen as an All State level musician in both chorus and band.

McDevitt is a four-year member of CHRHS Cross Country, Track and Math teams. He is a member of the National Honor Society and plans on going to college next year to major in computer science.

Munson is a four-year member of Student Council and is currently part of the senior leadership. He's also a member of the Latin Club, and plays club Frisbee in the spring. In college he plans to major in biology, concentrating on ecology and evolutionary biology. So far, he has been accepted to Colby College, but is also waiting to hear back from other colleges in April.

Porter is a four-year member of the Nordic Ski and Cross-Country teams and a member of the National Honor Society. He is a member of the Strom Auditorium Tech Club specializing in sound, and a member of the Jazz Band. His college plans include studying biology and hoping to ski competitively.

Wyman is a two-year member of the CHRHS Nordic Ski and Cross Country teams and a four-year member of the Track team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year band member. She will attend Bowdoin College next year and run on the Bowdoin Cross Country team.
