Camden Heritage Trees Walking Tour set for Aug. 22

Camden — The Camden Garden Club will meet Thursday, Aug. 22 at First Congregation Church, 55 Elm St. Camden, with a program on Camden Heritage Trees. Coffee and tea will be served at 9 a.m. followed by a short presentation at 9:30 a.m., after which members and guests are invited to join speaker Nancy Caudle-Johnson on a heritage tree walking tour of the village.

Caudle-Johnson is a Camden Garden Club member, licensed arborist and co-founder of Treekeepers LLC, with her husband. The couple was recently honored with the 2019 Frank Knight Award for Excellence in Arboriculture, presented by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, citing their tree preservation and community forestry work throughout Maine, and the company’s Legacy Grant for Tree Preservation, dedicated to saving heritage trees. In 1995, Caudle-Johnson initiated Camden’s Tree City USA program and for 25 years has served as Camden’s Arbor Day and Tree City USA coordinator. This year marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Treekeepers LLC.
