Camden Garden Club begins Winter Horticulture Series

Jan 18, 2014

Camden — Offering islands of color, sun, and the promise that spring will come again, the Camden Garden Club’s Winter Horticulture Series at the Camden Public Library runs for five Tuesdays through the end of February, and feels like a lifeline in Maine’s mid-winter.

Creative Containers begins the series Tuesday, Jan. 28. Lisa Colburn of Orono, author of The Maine Garden Journal, will demonstrate how ”to create fabulous ornamental gardens in pots, window boxes, hanging planters, and whimsical containers that get attention.”

The February Tuesdays will feature Dennis Milliken of Green Thumb Nursery, on Feb. 4, speaking about Plants with Style: Home Companions; then on Feb. 11, Jeff Wells and Allison Childs Wells on Maine’s Favorite Birds; next Hammond Buck of Plants Unlimited on Ornamental Grasses, on Feb. 18; and finally, Rebecca Jacobs on Invasive Plants, Feb. 25.

The program will start at 10 a.m. in the Picker Room of the Camden Public Library. Everyone is welcome.
