Call for comic book-inspired art

Hallowell — The Harlow Gallery invites artists working in the comic book industry and artists inspired by comic book art and themes to submit work to be considered for “POW!”, a juried art show on view Sept. 8 through Oct. 21. Deadline for email submissions is 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Submissions are welcome from artists, pencillers, inkers and letterers including original pages, panels, splash pages and cover art. Fan art and fine art inspired by comics; and all media are welcome including sculpture, photography, fine art and fine crafts. High quality printouts of digital art may be submitted but reproductions of original art are not eligible.

The downtown Harlow Gallery is home to the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a membership based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to connecting and celebrating art, artists and community in central Maine since 1963. Exhibitions at the Harlow Gallery are underwritten by Patron of the Arts sponsor Camden National Bank; and by season sponsors Capitol Dental Care, Eaton Peabody Attorneys at Law, Kennebec Savings Bank, Scrummy Afters Candy Shoppe, Slates Restaurant and the City of Hallowell.
