Business is 'blooming' events planned

May 07, 2012

Camden — Business is Blooming in Camden events are set for May 17 to 20 in downtown Camden. This first annual event is a collaboration between the Camden Downtown Business Group with support from Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce and the town of Camden.

This new springtime event will help welcome more than 25 new businesses in Camden and is being held to both honor, established businesses in Camden, as well as welcome new business owners and businesses to the area. Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to visit Midcoast Maine — specifically Camden retailers, inns and restaurants — and come shopping during the weekend of May 18 to 20 to thank all their favorite new and established businesses.

All area businesses are helping to promote this new springtime event as a way to say thank you and to extend that down home Maine hospitality to all of Camden’s new business owners.

Business owners both old and new are invited Thursday, May 17, to celebrate together with a New Business “Pot Luck” Welcoming Party, to meet and greet all new businesses to town, and the highlight of the evening will be food — brought “pot-luck” style from all the new business owners. All will enjoy unique fare from lobster rolls to French-inspired appetizers and freshly baked bagels. The new business welcome party will be at The New England Real Estate Company located at 2 Bay View St. beginning at 5 p.m. Then all visitors to Camden will enjoy extended shopping hours and sidewalk sales all weekend including shops open until 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 6 p.m. Saturday, May 19, and 5 p.m. Sunday, May 20.
