Bulldogs take bite out of Mariners' road game plans

Fairfield — The Oceanside field hockey team embarked on its first road trip of the high school stick campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 10 to square off with Lawrence, only to have the Mariners return home on the short end of a 4-0 score against the Bulldogs.

The four Lawrence goals came in the first half — two by Lexie Lewis and Elsie Sultie — while Lewis and Haylei Niles added assists for the Bulldogs.

Alexa Barstow made 13 saves in the cage for the Mariners and Emma Poulin 10 stops for the Bulldogs.

Lawrence held a 17-10 edge in shots and 21-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Lewis scored the first two goals — both off penalty corners — at the 24:13- and 16:48-marks of the first half, while Sultie scored, off an assist by Lewis, with 11:21 remaining and Sultie, off an assist from Niles, with 7:54 left.
