Bubar, Leach first in 'Run for the Trails' 5K

Waldoboro — Daniel Bubar and Patricia Leach were the first male and female finishers in the inaugural "Run for the Trails" 5-kilometer race Saturday, June 28 at Medomak Valley High School.

The event, which also included a children's one-mile fun run, was a fundraiser for upkeep of the Neil W. Lash Nature Trail at the school.

"After several years, by mutual consent, the Maine Games 5K race has been discontinued," said race director George Gould, with the "Run for the Trails" event being its replacement.

The individual 5K results, with place, name, residence and time listed, were: 1  Bubar, 16, Waldoboro, 19:51; 2, Pat O’Donnell, 23, Warren, 20:25; 3, Joey Casas, 37, Washington, 20:47; 4  Leach, 42, Warren, 26:54; 5, Tami Casas, 38, Washington, 28:05; 6, A.J. Baker, 23, Union, 32:59; and 7, Beth Corson 17, Union, 33:26.

The individual children's one-mile results were: 1, Gabe Lash, 7, Waldoboro, 13:27; 2, Liam Winchenbach, 7, Waldoboro, 13:29; 3, Landon Winchenbach, 4, Waldoboro, 16:53; and 4, Levi Winchenbach, 2.5, Waldoboro, 16:55.
