Breakfast to raise funds for District Nursing Association March 23

Mar 14, 2019

South Thomaston — People’s United Methodist Church, 13 Chapel St., is hosting a public breakfast Saturday, March 23, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. to benefit Rockland District Nursing Association, a nonprofit agency that provides non-acute, in-home nursing and community health services.

One of only three remaining district nursing agencies in Maine, RDNA is celebrating its 90th anniversary, continuing the tradition of community nursing to meet current health needs. RDNA nurses annually visit 200 residents, predominantly seniors, living independently in Rockland, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Owls Head, St. George, Cushing, Union and Warren. In 2018, the nurses drove 6,000 miles, making more than 1,700 visits.

Since the agency does not receive federal/state funds or insurance reimbursement, it relies on gifts and contributions to cover the majority of annual operating costs, focusing funds received on providing care.

At the breakfast fundraiser, donation baskets will be placed at the entrance of the church fellowship hall; where a homestyle breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages, potatoes, juice and coffee will be available for $10 per person.
