Waldoboro — While the doors are closed at the Waldoborough Historical Society for the season, the activity within continues as trustees Roy Hatch and Bill Maxwell work on refurbishing the concrete floor in the Hauck section of the middle building. They also are working with Dave Kristiansen, WHS’ faithful carpenter, to add a Knox Box to help fire volunteers in an emergency. The Knox Box was purchased through a bequest from the Daniel Cooney Family in memory of their father, a long-time member of the museum.

The new 2019-20 Waldoboro Ships Calendar is now on sale for $10 at Barstow Farms Store’s Cider Hill site. The calendar and book “Do You Remember,” which has a special commemorative section on the Reed Mansion, also are available at the Community Pharmacy; and Waldoboro Public Library also has two of the books. All three venues are appreciated for their support of the society’s attempts to save Waldoboro history.

The Facebook Challenge for the West Waldoboro School/Community Building was won by Judith Pepper of New Hampshire, third great-granddaughter of Captain Samuel Pitcher of Waldoboro. Winners of the FB auction came by the museum recently to collect their winning bid gifts of coffee, symphony tickets, best sellers and CDs.

There is a new Facebook sale for Christmas gift giving. The Black Friday (ending Dec. 20) History Buff Gift includes a commemorative T-shirt sizes M, L and XL in limited numbers; Waldoboro Ships 2019-20 calendar; “Art Under Foot, the story of Waldoboro Rugs,” “Do You Remember?” and “Dora the Dory” books. The package may be purchased for $45, a savings of $12; call Maxwell at 790-1307 soon while shirt sizes are available. All proceeds benefit the Waldoborough Historical Society.
