NORTH HAVEN — For one week only, Gordon Bok has a woodcarving show, “Unwritten Histories,” at the North Haven Gallery on Main Street. The show runs from Monday, Aug. 12, through Sunday, Aug. 18.

Bok, whom Time magazine dubbed "The poet laureate of those who go down to the sea in ships," is well known for his folksinging, and has performed for more than 50 years. What is not as well known is that Bok has been a woodcarver as long as he has been singing, inspired by the same experiences that created his music. His bas-relief carvings describe scenes of the sea, and of the fishing boats and fishermen. His work has been shown in exhibitions and juried shows throughout Maine, and as far away as Oregon.

Please visit gordonbok.com for more information about his performances and woodcarvings, and for information about how to get to North Haven to see this show.
