Boetsch returns to octagon April 14

Glendale, Ariz — Ten months removed from his last fight, Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch now has his sights set on his next Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) opponent.

The 37-year-old Lincolnville native, ranked 13th in the middleweight division, is set to tangle with Antonio Carlos Junior (10-2) at UFC on Fox 29 on Saturday, April 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz.

Most recently, Boetsch dispatched of Johny “Big Rigg” Hendricks by second-round knockout at UFC Fight Night 112 on June 25 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The six-foot, 185-pound Boetsch fights out of Sunbury, Pa. and has an arm reach of 74 inches and a leg reach of 42 inches. He has won three of his last four fights, including wins over Hendricks, Rafael Natal and Josh Samman.

Carlos Junior, who is from Joao Pessoa Paraiba, Brazil and fights out of Coconut Creek, Fla., has won his last four fights. The 27-year-old, 6-foot 2-inch, 185-pound fighter has an arm reach of 79 inches and a leg reach of 42 inches.

Boetsch is a 1999 Camden-Rockport High School graduate and four-time state Class B wrestling champion. He also wrestled in college. This year marks Boetsch’s 10th year in the UFC and 12th as a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. He is also a member of the Maine Amateur Wrestling Alliance (MAWA) Hall of Fame.
