Aug 10, 2017
Cruise the St. George River on the Laura B with Georges River Land Trust Aug. 27.

Rockland — Georges River Land Trust invites members and friends to get out their boat togs and dancing shoes to celebrate 30 years of conservation along the Georges River. The anniversary celebration will be held at the Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding boatyard, 84 Knox St., Thomaston, Sunday, Aug. 27.

The afternoon event will begin at 2:45 p.m. with a one-hour boat cruise down the Georges River on the Laura B to see recently conserved lands and learn about local wildlife. There are limited spots available for this guided trip, and tickets are $40 per person. Tickets can be purchased at georgesriver.org/event/30th_celebration/ or by calling 594-5166.

At 4 p.m., members and friends will gather in Building 11 at Lyman-Morse, the “green” boat building facility, for the free 30th anniversary celebration. All attendees are asked to bring a summer potluck dish to share. Guests will enjoy the tunes of the BCD Jazz Trio, and have an opportunity to bid on several unique silent auction items (visit georgesriver.org/silent-auction-items/ to see a complete list, photos, and estimated value of the auction items). The land trust board will update everyone on accomplishments over the past year, and introduce new board members.
