Boat auction seeks boats and nautical items

Mar 22, 2021

Due to the current pandemic and uncertainty of the number of people who will be allowed at event gatherings, this year’s annual Boat Auction and Sale will be online. The boat inventory will be on the Penobscot Bay YMCA’s website and Facebook page in early April.

The Y is looking for boats of all types — sail, power, dinghy, kayak, canoe, skiffs, rowing shells, or surf boards — that individuals would like to donate as a tax write-off. Someone from the Y will stop by and make sure it is suitable, and arrange for transportation at no expense to the donor. Boat owners can claim the selling price as a tax deduction. Boat donations will continue to be accepted throughout the summer and added to the online inventory when they are received.

Since the first auction in 1998, this major fundraising event continues to provide much-needed support for families to help send their kids to the summer camp.  To donate a boat or for more information email or call Marcia Roberts, Development Director at the Y @ 236-3375, ext. 209.
