The Oceanside and Camden Hills high school field hockey teams hit the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 9 and were involved in shutout games — which proved a positive outcome for the Mariners, while not so much for the Windjammers.

The Mariners bested Maranacook of Readfield 1-0 for their first win of the young season, while the Windjammers were downed 9-0 by Messalonskee of Oakland.

The following is a recap of reported results:

Oceanside 1, Maranacook 0

At Readfield Sept. 9, the Mariners bested the Black Bears to cement their first win of the campaign. The teams were scoreless at halftime.

Erin Dugan scored the lone goal of the contest, off an assist from Taylor Hamlin, with 5:21 remaining in regulation. Dugan had been nursing a knee injury and Hamlin is making a comeback after it was feared she might be out for the season with a foot injury.

Oceanside held a 12-7 edge in shots, while Maranacook held a 13-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Alexa Barstow (6 saves) and Mattie Hooper (save) combined to make seven saves in the cage for the Mariners, while Carolina Bachelder made 11 saves in the cage for the Black Bears.
