Bird walk offered at Erickson Fields Preserve

Rockport — Maine Coast Heritage Trust will host a guided bird walk at Erickson Fields Preserve, 164 West St., Rockport, on Saturday, July 14, From 8 to 9:30 a.m. Steward & Naturalist, Kirk Gentalen will lead a group around the Teen Ag garden and through the woods, teaching how to identify birds by sight and sounds, and discover what other creatures inhabit the preserve.

Gentalen is MCHT’s steward/naturalist for Vinalhaven Island, where he also edits the “Vinalhaven sightings report” summary blog of natural history sightings from around Vinalhaven. Locally he has led trips for Mid-coast and National Audubon Societies, Down East and Acadia birding festivals and “Thursday morning bird walks” on Vinalhaven Island.
