Bicentennial Commission reschedules events

Apr 09, 2020

The Maine Bicentennial Commission has rescheduled two of its planned events in response to the virus prevention effort, with a view toward hosting the commemorations later in the Bicentennial year.

The State of Maine Bicentennial Parade Presented by Poland Spring is now scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, in Lewiston and Auburn.

The Maine Bicentennial Statehood Day Ceremony will now take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in Augusta.

These dates are subject to change based on the status of the current public health crisis. If emergency measures to combat the pandemic are still in place or are reinstated as of July 1, the Bicentennial Commission will revisit its plans and likely announce additional postponements.
