Belfast Plans Clean Up on Saturday, May 8th

Want to join the Waldo Community Action Partners' team?  Meet at 9 Field St on Saturday May 8th!  Keeping Belfast Maine Beautiful, KBMB, was established in 2017 as a community event to remove trash from the roadside.  On Saturday, May 8th nearly 30 teams of volunteers will be cleaning every street, all 59 miles of Belfast roads, cleaning up roadside trash. Being just a little bit competitive, two challenges are given.  Who can pick up the most cigarette butts and which team can collect the most “nips”. Team members will be given a special small bag for the collection of cigarette butts - the number 1 source of litter!  And yes, we count them!  Over 12 tons of trash was collected in the last 3 years.   Some teams may begin on Thursday or Friday, so be on the lookout for the amazing volunteers and the event sponsors who make this happen each year.
