Belfast Maskers-Cold Comfort set season

Belfast — The merged Belfast Maskers-Cold Comfort Theater Company is preparing to forge ahead into a new, full season for 2014. The planned schedule includes the riveting drama “Agnes of God”; a concert version of “Fiddler on the Roof”; a summer production of the hilarious “Once Upon a Mattress”; and, pending approval, a spectacular show for and with children, in the works for late summer. Also, in the fall, the troupe plans staged readings, a dinner theater and finally, a holiday show.

The season also will include the annual summer USO-type show to honor the armed forces and the popular summer theater camp for children. It is a full year, everyone is excited to begin and the community ins encouraged to take part.

Auditions announced

Auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof,” a concert version, will be held Sunday, March 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the vestry of First Baptist Church, 95 High St. Most roles are open, including leads. There are singing and dancing roles for all ages. Also needed: a fiddler.

Auditions for “Once Upon a Mattress” will be held Saturday, April 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the same location. Sought are actors for supporting roles and chorus. There are singing and dancing roles for teens and adults.

The company also is looking for volunteers to help with sets and costumes for all shows. Those with artistic flair, an eye for design and skills with a needle and thread or a hammer and nails are encouraged to volunteer.

April opener cast announced

The company has announced that “Agnes of God” will feature Chris Goosman as Mother Miriam Ruth, Katie Glessner as Dr. Martha Livingstone and Maggie Goscinski as Agnes. The drama by John Pielmeier is produced through the cooperation of Samuel French, Inc. Performances will be April 11 at Emerson Hall in Castine; April 12 at a venue-to-be-determind in Searsport; and April 17 through 19 at the Belfast Boathouse.
