Belfast Historical Society Program

“Making the Past Personal” will be the presentation of the Belfast Historical Society’s meeting at 7:00 pm, May 20, in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library. The Poets’ Table, a group of local poets, has been meeting at the Belfast Museum for the past ten years. During this time, they each have been inspired by artifacts and photographs of the past. Poems, accompanied by the image which gave inspiration, will be read by Neshama Waller, Shirley Glubka, Jackie Ascrizzi, Judy Kaber, Sharon Bray and Leslie Moore. Megan Pinette from the historical society will give the historic background. Belfast’s industrial past, notable men and women, the 1865 conflagration and the building of the largest ship are topics explored by the poets.

Belfast Historical Society meetings are open to the public and are held April through October. For our 2019 program schedule and museum news,
