Behind the scenes at Hatchet Cove Farm

Camden — Reba Richardson of Hatchet Cove Farm will lead a talk about her family’s farm at Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, Feb. 4 at noon.

Richardson’s presentation will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the farm’s history, formation, practices, and day-to-day operations. As the Midcoast’s largest MOFGA certified organic farm, Hatchet Cove Farm has been at the forefront of Maine’s local food movement and recently received the Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District’s Cooperative of the Year award for reducing soil erosion to protect and conserve water resources.

Richardson and her husband Bill Pluecker founded Hatchet Cove Farm in Warren in 2004. Bill and Reba both have backgrounds in social justice and labor organizing. They run a Community Supported Agriculture program, and their produce can be found at the Good Tern Co-Op in Rockland, Rising Tide Co-Op in Damariscotta, and at the Pen Bay Medical Center Café in Rockport.
