Bee presentation set for June 1

Courtesy of: Roger Rittmaster Merryspring will offer a lecture and nature walk to learn more about the preeminent pollinators: bees, June 1.

Camden — Coastal Mountains Nature Program presents The Fascinating World of Bees, Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at Merryspring Nature Center, 30 Conway Road in Camden.  Frank Drummond, professor of insect ecology and insect pest management at University of Maine will introduce walkers to the diversity and importance of our preeminent pollinators: the bees. After a 45-minute educational talk and slide show, the group will go out into the field to capture and identify the bees and other pollinators so crucial to the survival of our native plants. Participants are invited to bring a hand lens if they wish.

Jointly sponsored by Merryspring Nature Center, the Camden Conservation Commission and Coastal Mountains Land Trust, this event is free and open to the public. Leave your dogs at home for this and all Coastal Mountains Nature Program events.
