Rockland — The weather was perfect July 13 for spectators to line the Rockland Breakwater and partake in the annual Parade of Sail, sponsored by the Maine Windjammer Association.

The tall ships took turns passing close by the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse as Capt. Jim Sharp announced their arrival and told stories of who, how, and when the windjammer fleet came about.

Hundreds of spectators enjoyed a stroll along the nearly mile-long granite walk as the ships made several passes in and out of the harbor.

License plates from as far away as New Mexico, Virginia, Tennessee and Michigan were among the parked vehicles that stretched the length of Samoset Road nearly to Waldo Avenue.
