Bail set for Rockport woman charged for death in Waldo County

Rockport — Bail was set Friday for a 24-year-old Rockport woman arrested Thursday afternoon for the stabbing death of a man in Waldo earlier this year.

Victoria Scott was arrested May 11 at her home at 61 Vinal St. after being indicted earlier in the day on a manslaughter charge by the Waldo County grand jury.

Scott made her initial appearance in Waldo County Court in Belfast, where bail was set at $10,000 cash or $35,000 surety.

She has applied for a court-appointed attorney. Her next court date has been set for June 26.

Maine State Police detectives had been investigating the death of 43-year-old Edwin Littlefield since he died Feb. 8 outside a a house on Kendall Corner Road in Waldo. Police said he died from being stabbed.

State police made the arrest.

Scott is being held at the Waldo County Correctional Center in Belfast.

Littlefield's obituary stated he was born April 23, 1973, in Camden, a son of Edwin and Linda (Yorke) Littlefield Sr. He graduated in 1991 from Belfast Area High School. For many years he worked for Bill Magruder in Northport.

Scott was one of two women indicted for unrelated deaths.

Also indicted by the Waldo County grand jury was 36-year-old Tara Shibles, of Thorndike.

Shibles is charged in connection with the death of 72-year-old Joyce Woods of Burnham, who died outside her home after an intruder had entered it in the early morning hours of April 2.

In addition to the manslaughter charge, Shibles was also indicted on aggravated criminal trespass and assault. She was arrested at her home at 244 Gordon Hill Road in Thorndike.
