Rockland — One-hundred employees, yacht dealers and their family members gathered at the Back Cove Yachts yard in Rockland to commemorate the launch of the company's 500th yacht Dec. 5.

The 500th vessel, a Back Cove 30, was expected to be shipped to Boston Yacht Sales in North Weymouth, Mass. Dec. 6. Boston Yacht Sales purchased the first craft built by Back Cove almost 10 years ago.

The company currently manufactures three composite hard top express power boat models. Media Director Sarah Stern said two new models will be introduced by January 2014.

"I'm excited for the next 500," said Jason Constantine, chief operating officer of the company.
