Babe Ruth play continues with strong pitching, hitting

Rockland Ford, Newcastle start seasons 4-0

The Midcoast Babe Ruth League continued to surge through four weeks with the season about to expand to weeklong play.

In week four action, Rockland Ford defeated Damariscotta Lions 8-5 in 10 innings, Newcastle beat Tidewater Oil 13-6, P.G. Willey beat Waldoboro 10-7 and Union Farm Equipment beat Granite Coast Orthodontics 16-4.

In week three action, Rockland Ford beat Granite Coast Orthodontics 10-0, Tidewater Oil beat P.G. Willey 12-9, Newcastle beat Union Farm Equipment 6-3, Damariscotta Lions beat Waldoboro 13-2 and Rockland Ford beat Tidewater Oil 3-2.

In week two action, Newcastle defeated Damariscotta Lions 2-1, P.G. Willey beat Granite Coast Orthodontics 15-8 and the game between Waldoboro and Union Farm Equipment was suspended in the bottom of the fifth inning due to rain. The game will be resumed on June 27 at 4:30 p.m. at Begley Field.

The league standings through four weeks include: Rockland Ford 4-0, Newcastle 4-0, Union Farm Equipment 2-1, Tidewater Oil 2-2, P.G. Willey 2-2, Damariscotta Lions 1-3, Waldoboro 0-3 and Granite Coast Orthodontics 0-4.

The next games on Sunday, June 16 include: Union Farm Equipment at Rockland Ford at 1 p.m., Waldoboro at Tidewater Oil at 1 p.m., Granite Coast Orthodontics at Newcastle at 1 p.m. and P.G. Willey at Damariscotta Lions at 3:30 p.m.

Games are played on Sundays until mid-June when schools finish for the summer, then the schedule expands to weeklong play.
