Rockland — Richard King sails back into Rockland to discuss his new book, "Ahab's Rolling Sea: A Natural History of Moby-Dick" on Friday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Maine Coastal Islands NWR Visitor Center, 9 Water St.

This is a truly interdisciplinary, watery guide to both the novel and our changing perception of the ocean: from Melville's pre-Origin of Species 19th century, up to today's climate crisis, in which we now read Ahab as Big Oil and Ishmael as a climate refugee. "Ahab's Rolling Sea" has already been lauded both in the journal Science and in American Scholar.

King creates an original illustration in each signed book. For more information or questions concerning weather, call 594-0600, ext. 5.
