Augusta’s ‘Insects’ at Tidemark Gallery

Jul 08, 2018
“Polyphemus Moth” is a pastel on paper by Chris Augusta.

Waldoboro — Tidemark gallery, 902 Main St./Route 220, will celebrate ArtWalk Waldoboro opening a show of work by Chris Augusta. The public is invited to a 4 to 7 p.m. reception Saturday, July 14.

Augusta is a naturalist and a philosopher. He learned his skills as an artist by studying with his father, George Augusta, a notable portrait and landscape artist. This collection, “Fall of Insects,” pays respect to these co-inhabitants in our world — not only the conventionally beautiful butterflies, but also the structurally and visually interesting beetles and bugs who may not always be quite so well appreciated.

The show of oils and pastels will remain on exhibit through July. For more information, call Tidemark Gallery at 832-5109 or visit the gallery’s Facebook page.
