ROCKPORT – When is my child ready for first grade? Ashwood Waldorf School will host a fun and informative workshop on Tuesday, February 10, at 7:00 p.m. to help parents think about this question and set their minds at ease about this very important transition in a child's life.

This workshop will explore the nature of the developing child and the principles that inform the Waldorf curriculum. We’ll also consider questions such as: What are the readiness indicators for first grade? How does the early-childhood curriculum prepare students for grade school? What does the kindergarten to first grade transition look like? How does the Waldorf curriculum teach math and reading in grades one and two? There will be ample time for questions and discussion.

Teachers from both the early-childhood program and the grade school will be on hand to answer questions, facilitate conversation, and lead the group through sample first grade activities.

Ashwood Waldorf School is located at 180 Park Street in Rockport and is an independent and accredited school serving children 18 months old through eighth grade.

This workshop is free and open to the public, although pre-registration is required.
