Are you ready to Eat for Pete's Sake?

Mark your calendars for September 19, 2019! Pope Memorial Humane Society is planning our 12th Annual Eat for Pete's Sake event!

What is the Eat for Pete’s Sake? On September 19, Pope Memorial Humane Society supporters and restaurant patrons dine out at local restaurants and local restaurants then donate a portion of the day’s sales to PMHS.

Who is Pete?

Our 2019 "Pete" aka Bradley came to us as one of 75 collies and over 90 animals seized by the state. Bradley is roughly 5 years old and has not had an easy life. Most of his life he was stuck in a pen with over 20 other dogs with little to no human interaction. He is still learning that people can be good and that he deserves lots of love.

On September 19th you should plan to eat out as part of our 2019 Eat for Pete's Sake event! Current participating restaurants include:

  • Atlantic Baking Company
  • Clan MacLaren
  • Craignair Inn
  • dot & millie's
  • Hole in the Wall Bagels/Good Tern Co-op
  • Home Kitchen Café
  • In Good Company
  • Primo
  • St. George River Café
  • Suzuki's Sushi Bar
  • Thomaston Café
  • Waterworks Restaurant

While the collies are not available for adoption, yet, we are actively taking applications. If you are interested in adopting one of the collies please fill out our adoption application which can be found online at and email it to
