AVS News

There will be a School Committee meeting at AVS on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. The meetings are in the school library. All are welcome to attend.

If you have a child who is 5 years old on or before Oct. 15, he/she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten this fall. Please contact the school office (785-4504) to place that child’s name on the list. Registration doesn’t take place until the spring, but for budgeting purposes we are trying to determine the class size. Thank you for your help.

Appleton Library News

Story hour at the library is Thursday from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. It’s a great time for toddlers and preschoolers to come listen to stories and make a craft!

The Chewonki Foundation will be at the library March 8 at 11 a.m. They will be presenting their "Predators: The Balance of Nature" program. See predators in the context of food webs and natural cycles! Explore attitudes toward predators and reasons for their decline throughout history because of habitat loss and human interference! Discuss current events that emphasize the importance of predators in maintaining the world’s ecological balance. See Chewonki’s mounted xoyote and meet three live, non-releasable predators! It’s a great thing to bring the family to see!

Republican Caucus

The Appleton Republican Caucus will be March 1 at 12:30 p.m. at Rockland Middle School, 30 Broadway St., Rockland.

The purpose of the caucus is to elect delegates and alternates to the State Convention, elect member to Knox County Republican Committee, and organize upcoming elections. All Appleton Republicans are urged to attend this event.

The State Convention will take place in Bangor April 25 and 26 at Cross Convention Center. This is an excellent opportunity for local Republicans to meet and speak with those who are running for office.
