Appleton Library offers environmental book club

Sep 11, 2019

Appleton — Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District is teaming up with Appleton Library to present an environmental book club focused on environmental issues. The Appleton Library environmental book club will meet Oct. 3 and 10 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This month’s book features a common mammal around Maine- - the beaver. Environmental journalist Ben Goldfarb in “Eager: The Surprising Secret Life of Beavers and Why They Matter” highlights the many contributions of beavers. Goldfarb won the 2019 PEN/EO Wilson Award for Literary Science Writing.

Participants are asked to read the first of three sections before the first gathering. For those not wishing to purchase books, limited copies are available to borrow through your local library or InterLibrary Loan. There is no fee for the program. Participants are asked to preregister by calling Knox-Lincoln SWCD at 596-2040 or emailing julie@knox-lincoln.org.
