Anthony Lee Eyecare Office News 11/10/2017 Acuvue Visit

By Anthony Lee | Nov 10, 2017

Over the course of my career I have gotten to do a few special things because of what I do as a career.  These past few days I added to that bucket list. On Wednesday myself and 30ish other optometrists from all over the country, including Hawaii, were invited to Jacksonville, Florida, for a special visit to the Johnson & Johnson Vision Research Institute. These are the people that create and produce your Acuvue contacts. Feeling a little bit like I won a golden ticket to the secrets of the Willy Wonka factory, we actually had to sign an oath to secrecy, as we worked with the lead scientists and toured the manufacturing process.  It was just awesome to work one on one with the scientists that actually designed the contacts we fit everyday and to work with the clinical trial scientists that demonstrated exactly how their products were designed to be fit and worn. There was special emphasis given to the bifocal products because of our baby boomer population and we were able to see actual patients with the scientists right at the institute.

Although I could not bring back the warm sunny Florida weather (it was in the high 80’s) I was able to bring back this knowledge to my practice and my patients. I am super excited and any patient that sees me in the near future will notice, especially if they are wearing an Acuvue product.

Excellent!   I will be seeing you on Friday this week.  I think my contacts are Acuvue.
