Another Monday Blues two-fer

Rockland — The weekly Monday Night Blues series continues Sept. 24 with a two-band night featuring the TNG Band; and the Jeff Jensen Band. Admission will be $20 at the door for the 6 to 10 p.m. show in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St.

The Boston-based TNG began about six years ago in the small town of Ashland, Mass., as the Next Generation Band — an appropriate name for a group of young motivated musicians. Along with soul/R&B, progressive rock and jazz, blues became the founding genre that would eventually bring this group to the top.

Producer, composer and blues guitarist Jensen and his band tour the United States, Canada and many European countries relentlessly, spreading eccentric American root and blues wherever they go. After two years, almost 500 shows and three recordings as guitarist and music director for Brandon Santini, Jensen came his own with long-time friend and musical collaborator Bill Ruffino on bass and Memphis native Robinson Bridgeforth on drums. They hit the road and never looked back, delivering anything but buttoned-down music making.

Doors open an hour before show time. Next up in the weekly series are: Oct. 1, Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones ($15); Oct. 8, Chris Ruest Band ($10); Oct. 15, Dustin Arbuckle & The Damnations ($15); Oct. 22, Memphis Lightning ($10); Oct. 29, Professor Louie & The Crowmatix ($15); and Nov. 5, Erin Harpe & The Delta Swingers ($10).
