Camden — For more than 30 years Anne Dodson and her many talented friends have rung in the holiday season with a concert that celebrates life, love, loss and general silliness. This year marks the concert's return after a one-year hiatus. It will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of Camden, 55 Elm St.

Joining Dodson will be the usual stalwart crew: The Quasimodal Chorus, Matt Szostak, Will Brown, David Dodson, Pixie Lauer, Gordon Bok and Carol Rohl. New for this year are Keith Davie and Nicki Dunbar, who will be on hand to add their voices to the mix.

As always, the concert challenges the definition of “seasonal,” including traditional and contemporary songs from the United States, “eastern” Georgia and Britain, and with subjects ranging from deer in the road to an informal (and often ignored) theme of “stars.”

The concert is the closing event of "Christmas by the Sea," Camden's annual weekend of holiday festivities. “Anne Dodson and Friends” is a warm, informal concert, where the musicians take delight in blurring the line between performer and audience as together the community wraps up another year.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and advance tickets are available at The Owl and Turtle in Camden and at Rock City Cafe in Rockland. Tickets may also be reserved in advance, to be held at the door. Adults: $13 advance, $15 suggested donation at the door; children ages 6 to 12: $6 in advance, $7 suggested donation at the door; free younger than 6. Refreshments will be served.
