‘Animals & Humans’ for ArtWalk

Jul 02, 2017
Paintings by Samuel Morgan are featured, with sculpture and more by the gallery owner, in a new show at Philippe Guillerm Gallery in Waldoboro.

Waldoboro — Philippe Guillerm Gallery, 882 Main St., will participate in ArtWalk Waldoboro with the opening of the exhibition “Animals & Humans” Saturday, July 8, from 4 to 7 p.m.

This exhibit features works by both Samuel Morgan and Philippe Guillerm. Morgan is a well-known artist whose subjects include many threatened and endangered species such as the polar bear, the chimpanzee and the giraffe. Color is a common thread in his paintings as well as his life. The native New Englander has traveled extensively and currently makes his home in coastal Maine.

Guillerm's body of work is a mesmerizing assemblage of human curves; from rough driftwood to a smooth curved surface, his musical instruments flow “from animal to human.” Although they can be described as lively in their musical functions, Guillerm focuses on their physical forms.
