Animal shelter asks locals to support Knox County businesses

Sep 16, 2020

Thomaston — Sept. 17 would have been the day for the annual Eat for Pete’s Sake event, to raise funds for Pope Memorial Humane Society. Traditionally, Humane Society supporters and restaurant patrons dine out at local restaurants and restaurants, then donate a portion of the day’s sales to PMHS.

Pope Memorial Humane Society has adapted the incoming event plan this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, Pope Memorial Humane Society will not ask any restaurant to donate; the 13th annual Eat for Pete’s Sake event will be “Pete” asking the community to support local restaurants.

2020 has been economically difficult for local businesses, and the shelter is looking forward to supporters eating at local restaurants that support the Humane Society.

By dining out at participating restaurants Sept. 17, citizens will support businesses that are part of the community and ensure their continued existence.

Participating restaurants and eateries for this event include the Atlantic Baking Company, Blue Sky Cantina, Craignair Inn & Restaurant, Fresh & Co., Good Tern Co-op/Hole in the Wall Bagels, In Good Company and many more.
