ROCKLAND — Rock City Café, 316 Main St., welcomes Vicky Andres and Life Itself in a performance on Saturday, May 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Immersed in her live shows, Andres performs with complete abandon. She leaves every performance energized. Her passionate vocals can move from a vulnerable whisper to a courageous roar. Her intricate guitar work is driving and rhythmic. She mixes funk and single note lines with chord progressions that flow with a songwriting sensibility that hook the listener and never let go.

Max McFarland is a rare gem. His percussive bass playing style on his custom-made eleven-string bass makes him far more than a supportive bass player. McFarland navigates a highway-sized neck with ease. He has a fresh approach to his two-handed technique that is ahead of its time.

Jason Dean on drums laces this power trio together by providing a perfect mix of backbone and strength with a rhythmic flare. His multi-genre experience gives him the ability to know what each song needs to come alive.

Together as Life Itself, the musicians deliver an intense performance that is edgy, energetic and positive, fitting somewhere between alternative, rock and funk.

With coffee, cocktails, food and live music, Rock City Café is where your Saturday night begins. For more information, call 594-4123 or find the café on Facebook.
