An interview with Valli Geiger

Rockland — City Councilor Valli Geiger visited our studio Jan. 25 to talk about changes in Rockland's zoning that will allow for smaller homes and greater housing density in the city.

She also provided an update on marijuana businesses proposed in the city and changes coming to how we handle solid waste.

Geiger has served as Rockland's mayor in the recent past and currently serves as a member of the City Council.

Nice job councilor, I think the concerns around the zoning are reactionary, we need to somehow keep our city affordable- allowing infill might just help, as well as allowing new builds on vacant properties that can't meet the codes that were outdated.  Lets try and keep our city affordable to families rather than a destination for outta state retirees and investors who seek to convert some of our great neighborhoods into cash cows from seasonal rentals.

Excellent interview. Wondering what is going on in the Rockland zoning issue? Listen with an open mind. Personally, am thankful for the city council we have. They have a lot of difficult issues before them so will do my best to be supportive and pick my battles carefully.
