Aldersgate worship series featuring Dickens classic begins Dec. 3

Nov 27, 2017

Rockland — All are invited to Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 15 Wesley Lane, for an exploration of “The Redemption of Scrooge” during the four weeks leading up to Christmas, beginning Dec. 3. The chiming of the clock-tower bells in Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” provide a wake-up call for Ebenezer Scrooge, turning him from self-centered isolation to a new life of joy and generosity. The series will provide everyone with an opportunity to join Scrooge in claiming the joy of the season.

Based on Marcia McFee’s series, “God Bless us Every One,” from the Worship Design Studio, the experience is adapted from the book “The Redemption of Scrooge” by Matt Rawle. A setting of “worship in the round” allows everyone to be part of the countdown to Christmas by forming an Advent Wreath, complete with candles. Music borrowed from Disney’s cartoon portrayal of the Dickens classic will tie everything together.
