Absentee ballot information for November election

Aug 05, 2020

Maine voters can begin requesting absentee  ballots for the Nov. 3 election as of Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The actual absentee ballots will be available at the beginning of October and will be sent to any voter who has requested one.

To obtain an absentee ballot, voters can stop by the municipal clerk’s office and fill out an application for themselves and/or an immediate family member; call the clerk’s office and request a ballot over the phone; or use the State of Maine’s Absentee Ballots Request Service at www.maine.gov. That state site is being worked on but will be up and running in a few weeks.

Email and voice mail requests for absentee ballots are not allowed. People must either speak to someone on the phone or stop in to the municipal offices.

The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot to be mailed to you will be Thursday, Oct. 29, but in-person requests and voting may be done at clerks' offices through election day. All absentee ballots must be returned to the clerk’s office no later than 8 p.m. on election day, Nov. 3.

The election officials of the City of Rockland are requesting that absentee ballots be returned to the clerk’s Office by Friday, Oct. 30 to facilitate the processing of the ballots.
