A quick guide to the Camden area school budgets

Camden — Superintendent Maria Libby provided the following information about the proposed school budgets, which will be voted on July 14 in a referendum vote.

Virtual public hearings will be held on the budget proposals July 2.

The district noted in its budget presentation: "This budget was developed before COVID-19 struck the U.S. We made some last-minute adjustments to try to anticipate the unknown impact of the pandemic and will make other expense adjustments if we face revenue shortfalls."

 

Camden Rockport Schools Budget:

Total Expenses: $16,827,419

Represents a decrease of .61% from last year.

Revenue decrease of 2.21%

Overall Tax impact compared to last year: Decrease of .44%

Decrease of .99% in Camden

Increase of .16% in Rockport

Wage increases per contracts for teachers and all hourly workers are mostly between 2 – 2.25%, plus step increases.

Administrator salaries remain flat.

Health insurance increases were budgeted at 8%; came in at 5.9%.

Enrollment is about 730 students.

Five Town CSD Budget

Total Expenses: $13,302,646

Represents an increase of 3.06% from last year.

Revenue increase of 26.51% (mainly from increased tuition revenue and increased state subsidy)

Overall Tax impact compared to last year: Decrease of 1.53%

Decrease of 6.36% in Appleton

Decrease of 1.11% in Camden

Decrease of 8.54% in Hope

Decrease of 2.74% in Lincolnville

Increase of .86% in Rockport

This budget includes an additional Rising Tide Teacher due to need.

Health insurance increases were budgeted at 8%, and came in at 5.6%.

Enrollment is about 724 students.
