Transportation Museum invites public to Ride It Out virtually

Oct 09, 2020
The Owls Head Transportation Museum presents the Ride It Out Auction in October.

Owls Head — The Ride It Out Auction, presented by the Owls Head Transportation Museum, is a  virtual discovery sale that offers bidders of all backgrounds an inventory of vehicles, auto parts and collectibles. All proceeds will provide critical funding needed to support the museum’s mission to reignite America’s passion for the transportation history.

The sale features a selection of special interest cars, from a sleek Alfa Romeo convertible and a retro Honda 5-speed, to a trio of MG project cars. Participants can explore sought-after collectibles and a rarely-seen assortment of classic and antique auto parts. This is a great chance to pick up a project car or find the parts to finish one!

To view the inventory in person, the public is invited to visit the museum, located at 117 Museum St. in Owls Head, during one of four Live Preview Days, held on Oct. 11, 12, 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservations are needed to attend a preview day, but social distancing and face coverings are required.

The online auction opens for buyer registration and bidding Monday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. All inventory items stay open until Friday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m., when lots begin to close with staggered end times, so participants can watch their favorites and win real time. Bids placed within the final minutes will automatically extend the bidding time frame, ensuring the buyer willing to bid the highest amount always wins.
