Photo by: Stephen Betts Meals are being prepared at three RSU 13 schools including the South School in Rockland.

Staff were busy this week preparing meals that will be distributed at three schools in Regional School Unit 13.

On the first day Thursday, 209 meals were served.

The meals are not limited to students but are available free of charge to all children in the five RSU 13 communities who are under the age of 18.

The first distribution day is Thursday, March 19. Pick up can be done from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at the South School in Rockland, Oceanside High School in Rockland, and Oceanside Middle School in Thomaston.

The meals are available for children in Rockland, Thomaston, Owls Head, South Thomaston, and Cushing.

On Friday, meals for weekends will also be given out with the daily distribution. The meals will cover breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.

Meals can be delivered to homes where families cannot get to the school. People contact the school district office.

The action is being taken during the shutdown of schools in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak.

If the schools need any help, I am offering to volunteer.

The poster linked to below provides additional info. These meals are for any and all children under 18 that live in the five towns of the RSU. It is hoped that delivery begins next week. Sorry, not for adults.

Parents will also need food. Will meal service include all household members?

They can call the school and arrange for it to be dropped off.

What if the parent cannot get to the school
