Waldoboro — The Waldoboro Town Office is open for business, and has set up a unique drop-box outside the office.

Waldoboro Town Manager Julie Keizer said March 16 that the office will remain open during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have set up the Santa’s Mailbox, which usually comes out at Christmas, for the purpose of being a drop-box.“Folks can drop off tax payments and other documents without coming into the office,” Keizer said.

She said employees will be available to help residents conduct business over the phone, by mail and online. She also said the office will be open to the public, although they ask anyone experiencing symptoms to “avoid coming in.” If people do come to the office, Keizer said, they also have the option to call and have employees come out to meet them to complete business.

“We feel very strongly we have to be here for residents at this time,” she said.

Keizer also said there is a plan to have a plexiglass pane installed in the office for employee health and safety.
