Friendship and Cushing town meetings update

By Christine Simmonds | Mar 16, 2020

Knox County — Friendship polls are open and the public town meeting will happen March 17 as scheduled. Cushing polls are open, but the public meeting on March 17 is canceled.

Kathy MacLeod, town clerk for Friendship, said the polls are open and voting will continue. MacLeod said everything is being sanitized and wiped down, including frequently touched surfaces and writing utensils. Gloves are available.

Friendship public town meeting will still happen March 17 at 6 p.m. MacLeod said there will likely be less than 50 people attending. She said they plan to separate family groups by one seat to maintain social distancing.

Dan Staples, Selectman in Cushing, said they will still have polls open for voting on March 16, but the town meeting is cancelled.

Staples said there will be a brief Board of Selectmen meeting to vote to pass the warrants and then suspend the town meeting to a future date.
