Union Fair poster deadline is March 31

Mar 02, 2020
The 2019 Union Fair and Maine Wild Blueberry Festival poster.

Union — The Union Fair/Maine Wild Blueberry Festival poster designs suitable for use in publicizing the 2020 Fair, August 22-29, are due by Tuesday, March 31.

All entries should reflect the themes of this traditional agricultural fair, which include, but may not be limited to, blueberries, agriculture, fairs/carnivals, farm animals, 4-H, crafts, harness racing, etc. Posters should reflect both the aspects of a traditional agricultural fair and the Wild Blueberry Festival. Artwork should be poster size, approximately 14” x 20” and need not include lettering, dates, etc.

New for 2020 will be a youth category with a $100 prize to the winner as well as a week-long free pass to the fair. Youth, through the age of 12, will be judged separately from adult entrants and a winning design will be chosen.

The selected adult poster will be awarded a prize of $500. A committee of five trustees will select the top five entries and the final winner will be chosen by the full Board of Trustees at their April meeting. Poster winners will be invited to receive their prizes at the May trustees meeting. All rights to the selected designs will become the property of the Union Fair. It is hoped that the artists will be available, but not required, to attend one or more days during fair week to be recognized and to sign posters, etc.

Medium is artist’s choice, but must be in vivid color. The selected design will be utilized in the production of posters and other media so colors should be strong, design bold and graphic and avoid elements that do not reproduce clearly, such as shading.

Entries may be submitted at any time until March 31, 2020 and should be mailed to: Union Fair - Matthews Museum, C/O George R. Gross, P.O. Box 582, Union, Maine 04862 or dropped off at Union Town Office, Common Road, Union. Attn: Jay Feyler.

By submitting work, you attest that all artwork is your own and you are free and clear to use and reproduce all reference material and that the artist assumes all responsibility for same.

A winner may not enter and win in consecutive years. They may enter after a one year absence.

Entry forms that must accompany the poster submission are available at
