Maine Bicentennial Celebration set for Beech Hill Preserve

Once part of Massachusetts, Maine became independent—very independent—in March of 1820. Two hundred years later, on Sunday, March 15, Rockport will celebrate Maine's Bicentennial with a day's worth of events at historical landmarks. Coastal Mountains Land Trust will kick-off festivities with an open house at Beech Nut from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with coffee, hot chocolate and treats and a fire in the fireplace. See the town of Rockport website for other activities.

Pinewood Derby scheduled

Cub Scout Pack 200 will hold their annual Pinewood Derby at the Camden-Rockport Elementary School's cafeteria Saturday, March 21, from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Ashwood Waldorf School offers school tours

Ashwood Waldorf School will offer community members an opportunity to visit classes in-session Wednesday, March 11, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This free tour allows visitors see lessons in action, as they sit in on three classrooms in session, from early elementary grades through the middle school. After the tour there will be time for questions and conversation with the school director. Spaces are limited; advance registration is required by 1 p.m., March 10 at info@ashwoodwaldorf.org or 236.8021.
