Rockport — During the week of Nov 11, CJ Strength and Conditioning issued a food drive challenge to its members. The gym was able to raise 563 pounds of food and goods to donate to the Area Interfaith Outreach food pantry in Rockland.

Chris Chacon, owner of CJ Strength,  and Karen Reed, a gym member, delivered the food to AIO on Nov 20.

CJ Strength, located on Commercial St. in Rockport, is a group fitness gym that offers strength and conditioning classes as well as cardio blast classes. Classes aim to give the community a place to get healthy without judgment or risk of injury, said Chacon.

AIO “respectfully and compassionately supports those in need in Knox County with food and energy assistance,” according to the organization’s website. They coordinate three programs: the food pantry, energy assistance, and child hunger.

Chacon stated that he plans to organize another food and goods drive for the gym in Jan. and hopes to raise over 800 pounds of goods this time.
